The metric system is too geocentric and the old imperial measures are not consequent (human) enough.

But inch = thumb width, foot and yard = pace or step are more interested in human.

The meter instead was originally meant as 1/40,000 of the equatorial perimeter of our planet Earth.

4, 16 and every second power of two are square numbers.

The multiplication table with 16 x 16 = 256 would be two and a half times bigger than the old with 10 x 10 elements.
